Flying Eagles express disappointment over loss to Portugal

The Flying Eagles lost 2-3 to Portugal.

The Flying Eagles players are disappointed with their 2-3 loss to Portugal on Friday in their opening match of the U-20 World Cup in Turkey.

The team’s captain, Abduljaleel Ajagun, made the statement on Saturday, according to a statement issued by the team’s Media Officer, Sam Audu, in Abuja.

Ajagun promised that the team would improve in their next match.

“We are all disappointed we lost the game but we are also looking forward to our next game against Cuba on Monday.

“We will improve in our next game and score the goals that will get us back into the competition,’’ the team captain said.

The statement added that Coach John Obuh said the match against Cuba would be the team’s next focus.
“It was a keenly contested game but unfortunately we lost, this was not what we had hoped for. We have to take the defeat in good faith so as to face the next game because we have to qualify to the next round,’’ the statement quoted Obuh as saying.

In the other match of Group B played earlier on Friday, South Korea came from behind to beat Cuba 2-1.
